August 2010 floods affected more than 20 million people in Pakistan. It is the worst floods in 80 years. Hundreds of dead and missing. Thousands of families/people continue to be affected by worst floods. Millions of victims in urgent need of emergency aid.

"Hygiene Promotion Program"
Pakistan has been affected by horrible flood. The death toll due to flood are rising day by day. There are about 3000 people has been died so far. There are millions homeless, sick and living without any shelter and poor hygiene condition. The closest badly affected areas of District Toba Tek Singh are District Layyah and Jhang. Deeply affected areas of District Jhang are about 55 to 90 Kilometers away from Toba Tek Singh. There are some flood affected areas in district Jhang are completely wiped away from the earth. Affected people not only became homeless but also suffering from lack of food, safe drinking water, proper sanitation facilities, different diseases most commonly water born diseases, lack of clothing, poor hygienic conditions etc.
Jesus My Shelter had been working with flood affected people in almost same areas of District Jhang with help of different individuals.
JMS visited these affected communities and brought the following assessment of respected areas recently.
Overall Objectives:
JMS’s overall objective is to help the affected communities of District Jhang and Layya to restore their living condition with hygienic practices.
The specific objectives are:
To ensure the provision of safe drinking water
To educate the affected communities with hygiene by organizing hygiene sessions and providing hygiene kits.
To ensure the restoration of water resources
Activities:
1500 hygiene kits would be provided to 1500 families. Hygiene kits included (Bath Soap 3, detergent Soap 3, Nail cutter 1, hair brush 3, tooth brush 6, toothpaste 2, towels 2, under garments and pads for women 3 packet & pampers for children 1 packet, water vessel 1.
Conduct 16 hygiene sessions with women and children
Restore the present water resources for the affected households
6 litres mineral water bottles will be given to 1500 families 2 to each.
Indicators:
1500 families benefited from the hygiene kits and practicing safe hygiene
Water pumps or other water source has been restored for the affected households
1500 families has been educated with safe hygiene and practicing hygiene
Methodology:
JMS shall collaborate with local organizations of District Jhand and Layya and get 4 volunteers from Districts Jhang and Layya to make the project successful and reach to the target families easily. There will be a coordinator from JMS to see the over all project.
Duration of the Project: Three Months
Reporting Period:
JMS will submit the final report against this three months project after the completion. JMS will also submit weekly progress report.
